The day after attending IngenuityFest 2023: Biologies & Geologies (September 22 & 23, 2023), I left on a trip which included visiting the Norman Rockwell Museum, backpacking on the Appalachian Trail in Massachusetts, and attending the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association 41st Annual Gathering in Abingdon, Virginia. Now that I have returned, I want to publicly express here how grateful I am to Ingenuity Cleveland leadership and their community partners for this year's gathering of creative people in Cleveland.

My son, Mike, and I enjoyed exploring the artistically lit caverns of Ingenuity Cleveland's 300,000-square-foot Hamilton Collaborative on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2023. There we found music, art, and the following:
The brilliance of the Tesla Orchestra and The Fire Guys LLC.
We learned about a new, private museum and off-broadway theatre space opening at 5437 Broadway Avenue, Cleveland. (See information from first preview in 2022.) The Darl Collection will consist of approximately 200 pieces, with more to be added later.
UPDATE: After I finished writing this blog post, but before I published it, I saw the following about The Darl Collection's new museum that I want to share with you:
Entrepreneur converts old Andrew Carnegie library into arts center in Cleveland's Slavic Village

We explored the Soulcraft CLE space that is within the Hamilton Collaborative.
and so much more!!
Then, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, Mike and I returned with our whole family to explore more. In addition to seeing more of the exhibitions I enjoyed Friday night, I spent time talking to people at the community organization booths in the upper part of the building. There is where I learned about the latest new happenings in Cleveland:
Thank you to Sara Byrnes Maier, who is the Principal Planner at Cleveland Metroparks, for taking time to update me on the latest developments with the CHEERS - Cleveland Harbor Eastern Embayment Resilience Strategy and the Euclid Creek Trails projects. My wife and co-blogger, Julie, and I often write blog posts about exploring of the Cleveland Metroparks. In particular, we often write about the history of Euclid Beach Park, since Julie and our son, Kevin, are on the board of directors for Euclid Beach Park Now (EBPN). Thus, a bike path connecting Euclid Beach to its neighbors is of a lot of interest to us. Learn more about current Cuyahoga Greenways 2023 project at: 2023raise.cuyahogagreenways.com
You can also read some of the history of the Cuyahoga Greenways project in my 2015 blog post: Eastside Greenway - A Vision for a Future Eastside Cleveland Bikeway
I enjoyed talking to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History staff about their new Visitor Hall, which just opened to the public on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Unfortunately, I had to miss the opening, but plan to tour the new museum area soon. Julie and I are museum members, and often write about Cleveland Museum of Natural History events and their nature areas.
It was so good to talk to the Hathaway Brown Fighting Unicorns robotics team about what they are currently building. I have written about The Fighting Unicorns actively participating at IngenuityFest and other tech events for over eight years!
The day before the opening of IngenuityFest 2023, I published a blog post about a NASA Glenn Research Center event, and included information about their GVIS lab. So it was great to see Team Lead for Scientific Computing and Graphics at NASA Glenn Research Center Herbert Schilling, and other members of the NASA Glenn Research Center Graphics and Visualization Lab (GVIS) at IngenuityFest 2023. We are so fortunate to have all the resources of NASA Glenn in Cleveland. See my past NASA blog posts to learn more.
I laser engraved my full name on a "Cleveland Reads" metal tag at the Cleveland Public Library TechCentral booth. This past August, I wrote about how Cleveland Public Library Executive Director & CEO, Felton Thomas, Jr., was honored by the Cleveland Foundation with the 2023 Homer C. Wadsworth Award. In that blog post, I included a video of the 2014 TechCentral MakerSpace Grand Opening -- I can't believe that it has been nine years now that TechCentral has been serving our community! See all my library blog posts to learn more how our local libraries bring tech and great events to our community.
My sons, Kevin and Mike, had a demo area for their perMUTATIONS game at IngenuityFest for four consecutive years (from 2016 through 2019). While going through the art installation area of IngenuityFest 2023, they saw a rope that had been put up in 2019 to hang their banner. My family has years of good memories from attending past IngenuityFest weekend events.
What follows in this blog post is the text I posted to social media, along with my photos and videos, for each day I attended IngenuityFest 2023: Biologies & Geologies weekend. I highly recommend watching the videos of my photos and videos in full screen mode to get the full effect:

Since its founding in 2004, IngenuityFest has featured both technology and art. These are both areas that interest me greatly, so it is no surprise that I have been writing about IngenuityFest from the first year I started writing my blog in 2012.
