On Saturday, November 4, 2017, the Cleveland Public Library (@Cleveland_PL) celebrated its fifth Cleveland Mini Maker Faire (@CLEMakerFaire) by bringing together area makers and creatives to share their knowledge and encourage others to join them.
This celebration of Cleveland’s spirit of ingenuity, exploration, invention and just plain fun has something for everyone with an emphasis on hands-on action: touch, try, test and tweak, build, break, bust and bedazzle, launch, lift, light and learn, scout, sculpt, seek and show, explore, elaborate, engage and, most of all, enjoy!
Get your hands on cutting edge technology and cool projects.
Enjoy workshops led by expert Makers.
And, get ready to have your mind blown over and over again!
Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects.
We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth - a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.
Glimpse the future and get inspired!
This was the fourth Cleveland Mini Maker Faire that we have attended (see our past blog posts below). Every year, we have a great time talking to people about their creations. We love learning about what is happening in Cleveland's creative community, including its:
Robotics competition teams
Every year, the Cleveland Mini Maker Faire also add new things that excite the imagination, which this year included:
A fire-breathing dragon courtesy of the Heavy Meta Collective.
Fighting knights and medieval crafts/clothing from the Barony of the Cleftlands (@Cleftlands), which is the Cuyahoga County chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (@SCAsocial). Stuart used to participate in some Society for Creative Anachronism events when he was in college, so he found it interesting that the SCA was added to this year's maker faire.
Electrifying music of the Tesla Orchestra (@TeslaOrchestra). We have seen the Tesla Orchestra many times before at outdoor venues at IngenuityFest Cleveland (@Ingenuityfest). It was a new experience to see "a quartet of musical tesla coils that convert music into lightning bolts" within the small confines of the Cleveland Public Library's auditorium. (See our past IngenuityFest blog posts here.) It was a great show!
Enjoy our photos and tweets/retweets from the event, which will give an overview of some of the many creative happenings at the 2017 Cleveland Mini Maker Faire.
