Return Visit -- Cleveland Museum of Art's "Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe"

In our blog post, Cleveland Museum of Art's "Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe," we wrote that Stuart attended the Eyewitness Views Media and Influencer Exhibition Preview on February 24, 2018. Unfortunately, at the last minute, Julie was not able to attend. We knew she would enjoy this exhibition, so we planned to come to the show together at a future date.

We ordered our tickets to return on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, since the Cleveland Museum of Art's (@ClevelandArt) is open late -- until 9:00 pm -- on Wednesday nights to accommodate people like us who need an evening visit time.

Experiencing Eyewitness Views

While Stuart knew Julie would enjoy Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe, her enthusiasm for the show was even more than Stuart anticipated! It was fun to start the evening by having our photo taken in the Venetian gondola provided by the Cleveland Museum of Art.

As we entered the special exhibits hall, Julie became very engaged in reading all the informational panels for the paintings, and looking closely at the paintings. We used the audio tour, which is part of the admission price of the exhibit, and then looked for the historical details which were identified in the audio tour.

We spent a long time exploring Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe, and recommend taking enough time to really look at the paintings in detail. Stuart suggests that seeing the exhibit a second time will give you an opportunity to view the paintings with a fresh perspective.

Particularly for this show featuring masters of the 18th century, you really must explore the exhibition in person. There is so much to experience that cannot be captured by a camera!

Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors

We mentioned in our March 11, 2018, Eyewitness Views blog post, that Kelley Notaro (@KelleyNotaro) and Caroline Guscott (@CarolineHerself) from the Cleveland Museum of Art's Communications Department told Stuart about the upcoming summer show, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors (#InfiniteKusama - #infiniteMirrors), and how this show that is expected to sell out.

The Kusama public presale has ended! Weekly ticket sales will occur on Mondays throughout the run of the exhibition beginning Mon, 7/16 at 9:00 a.m. Due to Labor Day (Mon, 9/3), that week’s ticket sale will occur on Tues, 9/4. Sales will take place online and phone only.
