My weekend of Friday, September 28, 2018, through Sunday, September 30, 2018, was a time to learn about the creative people of Cleveland! The weekend started on Friday with an evening with creatives, which I wrote about in my blog post, PechaKucha Night Cleveland Volume 32 at Sachsenheim Hall (@PKNCLE - #PKNCLE32). It continued with Ingenuity Cleveland's (@IngenuityCLE - #IngenuityFest) annual celebration of artisans, makers, and technology! This year, the theme was IngenuityFest 2018: FuturePast!

IngenuityFest showcases creativity and innovation across sectors: it is a unique space to find something for everyone!

We highlight maker activities; exhibits from small businesses and entrepreneurs; site specific installations; dozens of bands, dance acts and performances across multiple stages; art of all types; and projects from our IngnenuityLabs incubator members and partners at the Hamilton Collaborative.

We’ll celebrate IngenuityFest 2018: FuturePast on Friday-Sunday, September 28-30 at the Hamilton Collaborative (5401 Hamilton Ave.)!
Friday Hours: 5pm – 1am
Saturday Hours: 12pm – 1am
Sunday Hours: 12pm-5pm

In 2018 our theme FuturePast celebrates the return of cherished traditions melded with the drive toward progress, forging a reimagined future of community, localism, and humanistic technologies. It represents a homecoming in many ways: our former industrial facility reawakening with new art and manufacturing, whimsical ideation, and a hum of imagination from the many renaissance women and men who call the Collaborative home. Join us September 28-30, 2018!

(Note that Ingenuity Cleveland changed their Twitter name to @IngenuityCLE this year, which is a name that better fits their year-around work. If you want to see what people wrote about their past work on their IngenuityFest event, you will need to search for: @IngenuityFest.)

I had planned to be out of town in September 2018, but a change in plans brought me home early. This allowed me to continue my annual tradition of living the full IngenuityFest experience by attending all three days and talking to as many exhibitors as possible. This was the second year at their new, permanent location at The Hamilton Collaborative, 5401 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland, which is now their year-round community hub. I recommend learning more on their Hamilton Collaborative web page,

I am proud that my sons, Kevin and Mike, had a booth at IngenuityFest for their tabletop game, perMUTATIONS (@PermutationGame), both last year and this year. You can learn more about the game they are developing in Anne Nickoloff's (@Nickoloffoff - @ClevelandDotCom) article: Cleveland board gamers build chemistry-themed game 'PerMUTATIONS'
