Weekend Fun: NEO Cycle & Cleveland Pops

My weekend plans went from nothing planned to really fun when I learned about two free events via Twitter.

I had not planned on writing this blog post about the weekend. I even told people I talked to at the events that I was not going to write about the weekend. However...

After the weekend was over, I decided I wanted to capture the information I learned about local adventures. I also wanted to thank NEO Cycle and the Cleveland Pops for the good time.

NEO Cycle

I had nothing planned for the weekend. Then, I read about the NEO Cycle (@NEO_Cycle) event in a tweet by Cleveland Scene (@Cleveland_Scene), that linked to things to do in Cleveland the weekend of September 11-13, 2015.

The weekend showcased a large variety of close-to-home adventures (see the "Local Adventures" list below, and the links/photos in my tweets). I attended on Saturday, and had such a good time that I came back on Sunday!

Anyone who knows me well knows of my interest in hiking and backpacking. I attended NEO Cycle with the plan to learn about bike-camping, which I see as a future adventure. I am a long-time member of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (@RailsToTrails), and always saw overnight bike trips as a future possibility. While I did get some great advice from some local bike stores, I did not expect to learn about other local adventures.

Thank you, Cleveland Scene, NEO Cycle sponsors, and Cleveland Metroparks!

Cleveland Pops

Free Cleveland Pops concert at PlayhouseSquare

In addition to the free NEO Cycle event at Cleveland Metroparks' Edgewater Beach, I also learned (via Twitter) that there was a free Cleveland Pops (@ClevePOPSOhio) concert on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Therefore, you will also see links in my tweets for information about @ClevePOPSOhio, and photos from the Cleveland Pops concert.

The concert was a celebration of the kickoff of a new season of entertainment at Playhouse Square (@PlayhouseSquare). It was supposed to be a free outdoor concert under the General Electric (@GELighting) Chandelier. However, the concert was moved to Playhouse Square's beautiful State Theatre due to evening rain.

Thank you to Wells Fargo Advisors (@WellsFargo) for sponsoring this fun Cleveland Pops concert, and to Playhouse Square for this great venue! My wife and I enjoyed the evening.

Local Adventures!

The main purpose of this blog post is to capture these tweets, since they link to activities that I may be interested in doing in the future. Look for links in my tweets about:

Also, note in my tweets that I received four tickets for Lake Erie Monsters (@MonstersHockey), and see photos/video of Thriller BMX (@ThrillerBmx) -- fun activities to watch in Cleveland!

Rust Belt Monster Collective

I'm sure you noticed the many tweets of the mural being created. I also need to put in a plug for Rust Belt Monster Collective (@RustBeltMonster). If you are planning a public event, I recommend having them create a mural during your event. Public art created live!

I love how they came up with a bike-themed mural for NEOCycle. See my list of other blogs posts below where you can see their work from other events I attended.
