Thank you, Cleveland Museum of Art, for your 2014 Chalk Festival. As always, we had a wonderful time! We attended on Sunday, September 14, 2014, and want to say...

Congratulations on
25 Years of Chalk Art!

Yes, this is the 25th anniversary of this creative tradition in Cleveland at the beautiful Cleveland Museum of Art's Fine Arts Garden. As described on the museum's website:

Chalk Festival
Children and adults enjoy this annual event where community members join professional artists in using the walkways around the Fine Arts Garden as a colorful canvas. Begun in 1990, our festival is a modern expression of a Renaissance tradition from 16th-century Italy, in which beggars copied paintings of the Madonna by Raphael and his contemporaries, using chalk on the plazas outside cathedrals. Watching the chalk artists and enjoying the entertainment is free.

We were so glad that this year's Chalk Festival did not conflict with Cleveland's IngenuityFest (see our IngenuityFest 2013 blog post) as it has for the past two years, so this year we had time to participate fully!

Listening to the live music and watching people creating art was a great way to spend a Sunday. Stuart also enjoyed making his own drawing with chalk. We then spent the rest of the day at the One World Festival (@CLEOneWorldFest) in Cleveland's Cultural Gardens (@CulturalGardens) before returning in the early evening to take more photos of the finished chalk art.

Here are the photos of the chalk work we enjoyed:
