Centennial Gift: Cleveland Foundation Day on Wade Oval

Even though we are very familiar with the institutions surrounding Wade Oval, it was great to visit them again as guests of The Cleveland Foundation (ClevelandFoundation.org - @CleveFoundation).

Past & Future

Welcome to Ohio's most spectacular square mile - University Circle! This premier urban district and world class center of education, medical, and arts & cultural institutions is located just four miles from downtown Cleveland along the historic and future looking Euclid Corridor.

 

You might wonder why we titled this section "Past & Future." We already make such great use of University Circle and, based on our past experiences, we expect the future to be full of more of the same enjoyable activities.

Here are some of the activities we have enjoyed "in the circle" and plan to enjoy again in the future:

  1. University Circle Inc. (UniversityCircle.org - @InTheCircle)

  2. The Cleveland Museum of Art (ClevelandArt.org - @ClevelandArt) - In our blog posts, we wrote about some of our recent activies at this museum, but our history with the museum goes back much longer.

  3. Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH.org - @goCMNH) - We have enjoyed the free The Cleveland Astronomical Society Frontiers of Astronomy Lecture series, as well as telescope talks and visits to the planetarium.

  4. Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS.org - @WRHS_History) - Our son has a collection of Euclid Beach Memorabilia, which he displays at the Euclid Beach Park Now "Remembering The Sights And Sounds of Euclid Beach Park" event each fall. Thus, we are very interested in the Western Reserve Historical Society's recent work with the Euclid Beach Park Carousel restoration. Learn more by following @CLEcarousel.

  5. Cleveland Botanical Garden (CBgarden.org - @CBgarden) - When Stuart was a Scout leader, he used to arrange for a private tour of the gardens for Cub Scouts. Now, our son is often at the garden working on photography projects, and we enjoy the glasshouse and themed gardens.

These are just some of the connections we have made with these museums over the years. We are grateful to The Cleveland Foundation's ongoing community leadership, which supports these and many other institutions that add value to our community.
