Celebrate the 35th Fine Print Fair, the Print Club of Cleveland’s annual benefit for the museum’s Department of Prints and Drawings. Fourteen dealers from around the country will exhibit and sell fine prints and drawings, from old master to contemporary, at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

This is the third year that I have been fortunate to be invited to the Print Club of Cleveland’s Fine Print Fair Opening Night Preview Party at the Cleveland Museum of Art (@ClevelandArt). The Thursday, September 12, 2019, Preview Party gave attendees an opportunity to "Be the first to view and acquire outstanding works" and "Enjoy a cocktail reception" before opening to the public. The Fine Print Fair is open to the public the weekend of September 13-15, with FREE admission.

Preview Party Hors D'oeuvres by Provenance

In addition to enjoying the fine print art, I really enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres and incredible desserts from Provenance at the Cleveland Museum of Art (@ProvenanceatCMA) during the Opening Night Preview Party.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is pleased to present Provenance, Provenance Café, and Catering by Provenance, a three-pronged dining concept created through an ongoing partnership between the museum, Bon Appétit Management Company, and celebrated chef Douglas Katz. The name “Provenance” is derived from the French provenir, meaning “to come from.” The word refers to the chronology of ownership pertaining to a historical object or work of art. but can also be used when describing the origin of food—particularly food from local sources. Provenance, Provenance Café, and Catering by Provenance marry the concept of locally sourced foods with the lineages of nearly 45,000 objects in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection.

Print Club of Cleveland - Centennial Celebration

Congratulations to the Print Club of Cleveland for celebrating its centennial year serving the Cleveland community with fine art!

While viewing the fine art prints, I learned something about the Print Club of Cleveland that I found to be very impressive:

The Print Club of Cleveland, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2019, supports the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The club's purpose is to augment by purchase and gift the prints and drawings collection of the museum, stimulate interest and appreciation of old master through contemporary prints and drawings, and encourage private collecting.

Congratulations to the Print Club of Cleveland for celebrating its centennial year serving the Cleveland community with fine art!

Learn more about the Print Club of Cleveland on their PrintClubCleveland.org website, and read information and see the video I included about the Print Club of Cleveland in my 2017 blog post: "A Prints of a Party" - Fine Print Fair Preview. Also, please take a look at my 2017 blog post to learn about the eleven affiliate groups of The Cleveland Museum of Art. Like the Print Club of Cleveland, the "Affiliate Groups are also special interest groups of the Cleveland Museum of Art that offer opportunities for deeper engagement with the museum as well as offsite collections and venues."

Opening Night Preview Party Invitation

I want to take this opportunity to thank Sarah Palagyi (@PalagsCLE), who invited me to attend the Print Club of Cleveland’s 35th Fine Print Fair - Opening Night Preview Party.

I already knew of her work with the Cleveland Museum of Art's Print Club of Cleveland and Column & Stripe - the museum's young friends group (@ColumnAndStripe). I learned that evening that she is also a leader in the Contemporary Art Society: Friends of the Cleveland Museum of Art and on the Board of Trustees of Heights Art (@HeightsArts). When I first met Sarah Palagyi in 2017, she taught me a lot about the museum's affiliate groups (see blog post).

Be sure to read my 2017 blog post to learn more:

I did not write a blog post about the 2018 event, since I was going out of town the next day and did not have time to put it together. Here are my photos from the evening of Thursday, October 11, 2018. I want to share them here, since they will give you an idea of how great the prints are every year.

There are many more blog posts that I have written about the Cleveland Museum of Art (read them here), and the museums in University Circle (read them here).

In addition to following the museum's @ClevelandArt twitter feed, I also recommend following @InTheCircle on Twitter, and exploring University Circle's website: UniversityCircle.org

I am grateful to be able to attend many great art events at the Cleveland Museum of Art!

Disclosure: I received an invitation to attend the Thursday, September 12, 2019, Preview Party, which included admission to the event (ticket price $100, or $125 after September 1), and two free drink tickets. The invitation to attend came as a result of my support of the Cleveland Museum of Art via my @sos_jr Twitter feed and sosAssociates.com blog posts. I enjoyed the event, and wrote this blog to share my experience at the Print Club of Cleveland’s Fine Print Fair Opening Night Preview Party. The Print Club of Cleveland’s Fine Print Fair is a free, public event at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
