Thank you to the Cleveland Young Professional Senate (@ClevelandYPS), the Cleveland Foundation (@CleveFoundation), and The City Club of Cleveland (@TheCityClub) for the Greater Cleveland Caucus events that took place in 2016. I think this type of activity is very important to our community as a starting point for making positive change and plans for the future.
After attending the final Greater Cleveland Caucus event for 2016, I decided to write this blog post to:
- Thank the organizers
- Capture some of the information shared about this final event
- Encourage people to learn about the Greater Cleveland Caucus by reading my past blog posts and related materials
Greater Cleveland Caucus
The Desserts & Debate: Presidential Debate Watch Party on Monday, September 26, 2016, was the last in the series of events for 2016. I recommend going to the Greater Cleveland Caucus web page for information about the 2016 events, and to watch for any updates for 2017.
In case Greater Cleveland Caucus web page is moved or taken down, I have included here the current content of the page, plus the results of the Town Hall vote:
In previous blog posts, I also captured information about the other two Greater Cleveland Caucus events I attended:
-
Blog Date: July 13, 2016 - Cleveland Young Professional Senate - YPCLE: The Millennial Caucus
-
Blog Date: March 21, 2016 - Cleveland Caucus - Community Solutions

Greater Cleveland Caucus Future
The Greater Cleveland Caucus events in 2016 were a great way to bring together people interested in improving the City of Cleveland. The events provided a format to gather attendees' input, and determine priorities for future planning.
I hope similar caucus events will be planned for 2017. I also want to thank the sponsoring organizations and their many partners for their leadership.
As I wrote in my March 21, 2016, Cleveland Caucus - Community Solutions blog post:
Normally, I would attend an event that had the energy level and high participation level of the inaugural Greater Cleveland Caucus: A Town Hall Meeting on Community Solutions, and report that it was a great success -- the end. That is NOT the case with this event!
For the Greater Cleveland Caucus, the event organizers presented a higher goal -- for it to be just the beginning! It cannot be considered a success unless it leads to real action that makes change in the Greater Cleveland community.
To that end, there will be more events and more work to be done. I look forward to learning about these next steps, and recommend that you engage in a future caucus at: ClevelandFoundation.org/Caucus
On Twitter, watch for tweets with the #CLECaucus hashtag, and for announcements by the partners:
Cleveland can look forward to an exciting future, thanks to the work of the leaders of the Cleveland Young Professional Senate (@ClevelandYPS), the Cleveland Foundation (@CleveFoundation), and The City Club of Cleveland (@TheCityClub).
