Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors celebrates the legendary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s 65-year career. The exhibition spans the range of Kusama’s work, from her groundbreaking paintings and performances of the 1960s, when she staged polka-dot “Happenings” in the streets of New York, to her widely admired immersive installations and the US debut of her recent series of paintings, My Eternal Soul. Visitors have the unprecedented opportunity to experience seven of Kusama’s captivating Infinity Mirror Rooms, including Where the Lights in My Heart Go, exclusive to the exhibition’s presentation in Cleveland. Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors provides an unforgettable sensory journey through the mind and legacy of one of the world’s most significant artists.

When we attended the preview, and wrote the blog post about the Cleveland Museum of Art's "Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe" on February 24, 2018, we were told about a must-attend exhibition coming in summer 2018. That Cleveland Museum of Art (@ClevelandArt) summer show, as we now know, is: Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors.

The Museum's Communications and Media Relations Manager, Kelley Notaro (@KelleyNotaro), and Director Of Communications and External Relations, Caroline Guscott (@CarolineHerself), told us how CMA members will have an exclusive opportunity to reserve tickets before the show sold out. Thus, we ordered our tickets, and watched the excitement build as the #InfiniteKusama announcement was shared with the public:

On May 21st, we were excited to be invited by Kelley Notaro to the Saturday, July 7, 2018, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors preview.

Here are our photos from the preview, followed by the tweets we shared as we toured the exhibition. We enjoyed seeing this special presentation of Yayoi Kusama's work, and even walked through the exhibition a second time to see everything from a different perspective.

Photos can't do it justice. The Infinity Mirrors installations of Yayoi Kusama are something you truly need to experience. See the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors web page for updated information on limited tickets being available, and follow @ClevelandArt on Twitter for #InfiniteKusama announcements.

After the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors preview, we went to the Cleveland Museum of Art's East-Wing Gallery 219, where you will see 19th century European paintings (see the museum's website search results here). The contrast between Yayoi Kusama's work and these European paintings was striking! It is great that we have an art museum in Cleveland that features such diversity, from the Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe exhibition we saw in the spring, to today's Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors.

Here are our July 7, 2018, @sos_jr tweets from the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors preview:

Because we are Cleveland Museum of Art members, we have tickets to see Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors again in August. We are looking forward to visiting again, since we know that we will see the exhibition differently than during the preview.

Thank you, Cleveland Museum of Art, for the enjoyable afternoon at the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors preview!

Disclosure: We were invited by the Cleveland Museum of Art's Communications Department to attend the Saturday, July 7, 2018, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors Media & Influencer Exhibition Preview. We were given admission tickets to this preview to be among the first to view the new exhibition before it opened to the public.

We were approached to attend the preview because of our support of the Cleveland Museum of Art via our @sos_jr Twitter feed, and our many sosAssociates.com blog posts about the Cleveland Museum of Art. We enjoyed the preview, and wrote this blog to share our experience at the event, and to thank the Museum's Communications Department for inviting us to the preview.
